Some things are just meant to be. Birds are born to fly, politicians were born to lie, big fat guys with giant beards were born to ride their machines without getting hassled by the man, and Carolyn Mark was born to make music. Ever since first taking to the stage as Templeton, the rat in her elementary school's musical version of Charlotte's Web, show business has been the main driving force in Carolyn's life. After coming to the obvious conclusion that musicians were much more fun to hang around with than actors, in the early 90's Carolyn formed her first band...

If you believe they don't write songs like they used to, here is new hope for old romantics. On her new album Chances, Canadian chanteuse Jill Barber picks up the torch where the golden age of music left off. Stepping away from her folkier past, Jill delivers an album of ten original, fully orchestrated songs that strongly evoke - and could themselves become - classics. From the moment you hear her sultry voice on the opening title track, you are transported to another time and place.

Sam Roberts is used to being pegged with a different tag for each album. From the indie rock of “The Inhuman Condition,” to the more complex rhythmic tones of “Love At The End Of The World,” Roberts says he just tries to ignore the attempts people make to categorize the music he makes. Regardless of the name one puts on it, Roberts continues to be one of Canada’s most exciting rock acts, embraced throughout the country, with pockets of substantial support around the world.
