Following the Top 10 success of her 1976 song Lost in France, Tyler released her first album in 1977 entitled The World Starts Tonight. A further single from the album, More Than a Lover, made the UK Top 30. It's a Heartache made #3 on the US chart and had become a hit worldwide. Faster Than the Speed of Night, was released in 1983 and spawned the ballad Total Eclipse of the Heart which became a worldwide hit. Tyler became a Guinness Record holder as the first ever British female solo artist to have an album enter the UK chart at no. 1. The album also became a top five bestseller in the US and Australia. Total Eclipse of the Heart also brought Tyler a Grammy nomination. In 1984, she received another Grammy nomination for Here She Comes. She also released the singles A Rockin' Good Way (a duet with fellow Welshman Shakin' Stevens) and Holding Out for a Hero from the hit film soundtrack Footloose. In 2003, Tyler recorded a duet of a French language version of Total Eclipse of the Heart which went to No. 1 in France. In 2007, a new Bonnie Tyler Greatest Hits collection, From The Heart, was released. A new studio album is also in the works.
