For a limited engagement on September 13th-18th the 'Black and Purple' will perform and educate about bullying prevention in schools and other venues in southern Saskatchewan. Two talented young musicians have loaned their voices to the fight against bullying. Singer Breanne Lawrenson and keyboardist Braiden Turner have joined the Canadian Red Cross RespectED: Violence and Abuse Prevention Education program, to create the Black and Purple Campaign to Prevent Bullying. The campaign is named after a song on Breanne's CD 'Ready to Fly' Both young songwriters recall the pain of being bullied in their younger years, and the harm - both emotional and eventually physical - it caused. However, they wrote the song Black and Purple from the perspective of a bully, not a victim. RespectED works with schools to help educators and students deal effectively wit hthe devastating problem of bullying. Since 2005, Breanne and Braiden have been performing and sharing their personal experiences with students across the country. They continue to speak on behalf of RespectED at their concerts.
