The Fairy Tale Ends For Philly

  Chicago wins the Stanley cup and ends a 49 year drought… what ever?! For me the bigger story was that of the Philadelphia Flyers, the massive underdogs. The Flyers had mastered the art of the comeback. A team full of heart and character… but was it Philly or the whole Easter Conference that were underdogs. The New Jersey Devils were not ready for the fight Philly put up. Neither Boston nor Montreal had any offense to speak of… so by the time our Cinderella made it to the ball the jig was up. You can mask your imperfections with as much luck and adrenaline as you want… hell call it magic if you like… but beyond the rose colored glasses Philly was just a step kid riding in a pumpkin being pulled by a dog, dressed in a skirt made by their only friends… barn swallows and mice. No matter what team made it in from the east… Chicago was going to crush their fairy tale dreams.
