Steamed up over Gas Prices

According to all accounts over the weekend, we paid up to 30 cents a liter in profit to the oil companies as opposed to the usual 2-3 cents above market value. Someone’s getting rich off of speculation and gouging… We have 3 options:
  1. We as a people unite against the high price of gas and boycott gas stations until, out of lack of profit, changes are made.
  2. We buy oil ourselves and start to refine it in our basements… One barrel (42 gallons) of crude oil, when refined yields approximately 19.6 gallons of finished motor gasoline. The remainder of the barrel yields distillate fuel oil, residual fuel oil, jet fuel, and other products. So 19.6 gallons (89 L) if purchased and produced would cost 1.12/L… you would have to sell the other products like the diesel and the jet fuel to make it fiscally responsible.
  3. Turn your vehicle into a Steam Powered Engine. http://www.greensteamengine.com/ - You might think this would be hard but actually it would be rather easy. All you need is:
· One Gas Guzzling truck
· Old hot water tank
· Old coal stove (wood will work)
· 50 feet of sked 40 PVC pipe and glue
· coal
· A green steam engine
· Blue Water Cooler Bottle
· 50 feet of rad hose
· 25 hose clamps

Simply mount the old water heater (after stripping it down to just the tank) on top of the old stove in the back of the truck box. Remove your old gas engine and replace it with the new green steam engine. Plumb the water tank to the steam engine with rad hose and the considerate from the steam engine back to the cooler bottle as a reservoir which in turn is pumped back to the water tank to make the system a closed loop. The truck's drivetrain stays the same and the alternator and battery are still used off a auxiliary drive from the steam engine so you have lights and a 12 volt water pump to return the condensed water to the hot water tank. Just add coal and you are off line baby. (Picture to follow)
