Olympic pondering?

Now that I've been watching the Olympics for what seems like months now, I'm starting to wonder why we call certain countries what we do. Like Germany. Why do we call it Germany when they call it Deutschland. Why don't we just call it Deutschland? Or Finland. They call it Suomi. Why don't we call them Suomi. Where did Germany and Finland come from? How about Poland. They call it Polska. Why don't we? Then it gets more confusing. The Russians still have Russia on their clothing, yet it should be Россия. It's just way too confusing.

Well, that's what i was wondering about. I could've talked about how the bum's of the Skeleton athletes all jiggle when you watch in slow motion, but I can kind of figure that one out.
