Giving Thanks

This Thanksgiving has particular resonance for me.  I lost a dear friend to lung cancer on Wednesday.  She was only 53.  I look around at all the blessings I have and yeah - I'm thankful.  Two great kids, two sisters and a brother and their families.  My dad turns 85 on Thanksgiving Sunday - now there's something to be thankful for.  Of course they all drive me crazy in varying degrees but when it comes right down to it they're pretty good eggs, all of 'em.  I've got a great house and its filled with things that make me comfortable.  Lorraine is there for me to take care of it all.  And I have some of the most loyal friends you could ever ask for.  There are several who have been here for me for three decades plus now.  I've got all sorts of activities available to me.  Including several to help those less fortunate.  Like next weekend's Stuff The Bus event.  Drop by any Safeway location Friday, October 16th or Saturday, the 17th and let's feed some hungry people.  Bring food items that we'll donate to the Regina Food Bank.  So, I'm going to be thankful for my turkey, a glass of wine.  I hope you can enjoy the same.  Happy Thanksgiving.

Lung Cancer

Hi Shirl.

I hope you are fairing ok. Lung cancer is a pretty silent disease which is why we hold our annual fundraiser. Since I began doing this 2 years ago I met so many people who have lung cancer, has a friend or family member with lung cancer or sadly, has lost someone to the disease. The stats are really quite a shock when you see them for Canadians.

My family is so blessed to have my mother a two time survivor and to be in remission from lung cancer so I totally get it and why I founded the fundraiser. If you are intersted, we can chat a bit next time we see each other, or feel free to email me.

Rawlco has partnered with our fundraiser for the 2010 event in July so watch for upcoming info. We have a great band booked and a motorcycle run to start off.

:o)

Take good care. Corinna
