Innocent Until Proven Guilty
Let's remember these words, alright?
The news and details about the charges levied against Eric Tillman are indeed shocking and have been all over the news so there's no need to rehash them here.
Let's keep in mind that Mr. Tillman is a man of good moral fibre, he's a dedicated family man, he has strong ties to the community and is a man of faith. He has said that the truth will come out and that he has faith in the legal process. What disturbs me are the many are ready to run this man out of town based on speculation alone. In this day and age, when there is easy access to all kinds of information on the internet, I'm frustrated with the fact there are people throwing out labels like "dirtbag" and the like.
We should not rush to judgement, especially in the light of the report in the electronic edition of the Globe and Mail that reports that a source close to Tillman said that the GM told police that the alleged incident occurred while Tillman was taking painkillers for a back ailment. The charge stems from alleged touching from behind and added that the family of the girl had asked the Regina Police Service to drop charges. The term "sexual assault" is quite broad and can relate to many things, from a simple touch to a more agressive sexual act.
It's my understanding that in Canada that the Crown can proceed with charges regardless of the complainant's choice and that Francine Tillman has said that Eric is innocent and that the police charges are a "witch hunt". I think it's very important to note that the family of the allged victim has asked not to proceed with charges.
Let's wait until we have more information until we make a judgement, shall we?

Thank you to all who are and have been very supportive of us. We are still waiting and praying for all of this nonsense to be resolved soon. It has been a very difficult year for our family and we appreciate all the kindness and words of encouragement from friends and strangers alike.
It is important to keep in mind that NOBODY wishes this to go on - especially our babysitter's family. They harbour no ill feelings towards Eric at all and want all of this dropped as much as we do.
Mr. Tillman
I totally agree with Scott.....he makes a valid point that we should wait to get all of the facts before judgements should be made. .....and who are to judge others here on earth any way?? I thought that stuff was up to the "Big guy"????
